Csc Seeks To Terminate Appointments Of About 2,690 Expat Employees
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has communicated with 19 ministries and 7 independent and affiliated government agencies to terminate the appointments of about 2,690 expatriate employees starting from July, indicating CSC will henceforth specify the number of contracts included in the replacement policy for other ministries and government agencies.
This step was taken in alignment with the trend of replacing expatriate employees with citizens, and the commission has specified certain specialties that should be foreclosed for expatriates.
The letter requested the Ministry of Education to terminate the appointments of 1,507 employees, and 436 employees were affected in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, 273 in the Ministry of Health, and 158 in the Ministry of Electricity and Water

The policy will see the appointments of 35 expatriate employees terminated in the Ministry of Information, 50 at the Council of Ministers, 20 at Civil Service Commission, and 11 each at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finance respectively.
The commission demanded termination of the services of 1-10 expatriate employees in the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Services, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of Defense. Others in this category include Fatwa and Legislation Department, the Supreme Council for Planning, General Customs Administration, Central Statistic Bureau, and the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters.

As regards the affiliated agencies, 24 expatriate employees were affected in the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, 12 at Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, 8 at Public Authority for Sports, 6 at Kuwait Fire Service Directorate, 3 at Public Authority for Protection of Quran Printing and Publishing, and 1 at the Public Authority for Minor Affairs.
Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs in the Ministry of Public Works Hamad Al-Ghareb affirmed that the ministry has been abiding by all decisions taken by Civil Service Commission concerning the replacement of expatriate with Kuwaitis, stipulating the job titles and percentage targeted within five years. He declared the commission is demanding the termination of 40 appointments within fiscal year 2018/2019.
