Dr Hamid Al-azmi Approves List Of Only Seven Egyptian Varsities For Accreditation
Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Hamid Al-Azmi has approved list of seven Egyptian universities for accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education, instead of about 30 universities which were accredited previously, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source.
The source explained the decision was issued based on the approval of the Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance Board.
The accredited universities include Cairo University, Alexandria University, Ain Shams University, Al-Mansourah University, Asyout University, Al-Azhar University and American University in Cairo.
The source said the decision took effect on the date of issuance and it applies only to new students or those who have yet to be admitted.
He clarified students, who enrolled in any of the other previously recognized universities prior to the issuance of the decision, will not be affected; affirming they are allowed to continue the admission and registration procedures. He added the decision is aimed at ensuring the quality of education and wiping out bogus certificates.
