Indian Embassy Celebrated Independence Day
Thousands of Indians from all walks of life gathered at the Indian Embassy early morning on Aug 15 to celebrate the spirit of Independence Day.
The ceremony began with the Indian Ambassador His Excellency K. Jeeva Sagar garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation, followed by the unfurling of the Indian flag and the singing of the National Anthem. The ambassador then read a message which was addressed to the nation by the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on the eve of the Independence Day.
This was followed by various Indian associations, including Kuwait Kannada Koota, Saradhi Kuwait, Gujarati Samarpan Association, Kuwait Odisha Association singing patriotic songs. The Kuwaiti singer Mubarak Al Rashed joined in to sing the Indian patriotic songs, which was well received by the audience with a big round of applause. Mubarak Al Rashed said he was privileged to attend the India’s Independence Day celebration.
Taking part in the celebrations was also the Muhammadee Scout of Bohra Community band. Speaking on the occasion, the ambassador emphasized that India-Kuwait relations have been historically close, warm and friendly and commended the contribution made by the Indian community in Kuwait’s to socio- economic development and in nurturing India-Kuwait ties. He extended his warmest greetings to all members of the Indian community in Kuwait
