Kuwait Customs Revenues Hit Dollar1.2 B For Fiscal Year 2018-19
Kuwait General Administration of Customs announced on Monday it has accomplished a “qualitative leap” in revenues for the fiscal year 2018-2019, with 12 percent growth to reach KD 367 million (about $1.2 billion) compared to KD 331 million ($1 billion) in 2017-2018.
This “unprecedented” achievement was possible because of recent plans designed to attract importers, facilitate clearance of customs data, as well as develop customs systems from manual to automated, said Director General of the Administration of Customs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi in a press statement. He pointed out that Customs seeks to implement its strategic vision of developing work and customs’ performance continuously by improving the business environment and facilitating customs procedures in line with Kuwait’s new vision 2035 aimed at consolidating Kuwait’s position at all levels without compromising national security.
Al-Jalawi lauded efforts exerted by the customs staff to achieve and implement the visions, plans and directives of His Highness the Amir, stressing the continuous efforts of the department to use all means that would raise the name of Kuwait and make it a global financial and economic center in application of the Amiri vision. He also commended directives by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Council of Ministers, and relevant ministerial committees, which support all proposals and customs studies in this regard. He expressed hope the administration will achieve a qualitative leap for its cadres and customs exits during the current year, noting, “The unprecedented shift in revenues is doubling responsibility for us, however we will meet aspiration of our wise leadership.”
