Kuwait Health Ministry Signed Mou On Medication Bar Code System

Kuwait Health Ministry signed yesterday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a nonprofit organization that works on bar codes on a project to monitor drug and medical consumables through a bar code to ensure its safe use and patient safety. In a press statement, Assistant Undersecretary for Food and Drug Control at the Ministry of Health Dr Abdullah AlBader said the system signed with the non-profit GS-1 Foundation is working on tracking medicines and medical supplies accurately through bar code from the manufacturer through the stores and pharmacies until it reach the patient. He said that the system aimed at combating counterfeit medicines, and facilitates drugs withdrawal when needed. The system will also ensure quality, safety and security through traceability, and reduce costs by eliminating errors and administrative costs, he added.
