Ministry Has Referred More Than 100 Forged Certificates To The Public Prosecution In The Last Four Years

The Ministry of Higher Education has referred more than 100 forged certificates to the Public Prosecution in the last four years, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources expect more forged certificates to be referred to the prosecution next week as the ministry has intensified efforts in checking certificates. Sources affirmed the ministry maintains strong coordination with security agencies in a bid to complete search and scrutiny procedures to identify all those involved in the case.

Sources clarified the above figure pertains to forged certificates only, indicating the ministry referred hundreds of fake certificates in previous years. Sources said there is a difference between fake and forged certificates — the first is issued by an unaccredited university while the second is issued by an accredited university but obtained fraudulently.

Sources cited another type of certificate issued by universities which are not accredited in the country according to the list of academic accreditation. Meanwhile, officials at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs received letters from the Public Prosecution about a Dar Al-Quran employee who obtained a higher academic certificate recently and used it to improve his professional and financial conditions, as results of the prosecution’s investigation revealed that the certificate is fake, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a reliable source. The source said the prosecution has requested the ministry to instruct the employee to return all the financial privileges he received unlawfully — estimated at thousands of Kuwaiti dinars.

The source affirmed the ministry immediately took administrative and legal measures in preparation for recovery of public funds which the employee received unlawfully.
