Ministry Of Education Seeks Kd 47m To Pay Female Expat Teachers House Allowance

Ministry of Education has requested Ministry of Finance for finances worth KD 47 million to pay housing allowance to female expatriate teachers in line with the decision taken by Civil Service Commission (CSC) following a court verdict. The court verdict had equalized Kuwaiti and expatriates teachers for the implementation of the decision to increase the housing allowance from KD 60 to KD 150 per month.

According to informed sources, the housing allowance will not be disbursed before the ministry is allotted the necessary amount especially since the housing allowance will be paid retroactively for the last five years. They revealed that the decision will cover 9,000 teachers and the maximum housing allowance that will be provided for the last five years will be KD 5,400.
