Kuwait’s Interior Ministry called on Tuesday on residents whose visit visas are expired to settle their residency issues and leave the country to avoid legal measures. The security information department of the Ministry of the Interior said in a press statement that this procedure prevents expatriates in general from being subjected to restrictions on the renewal of their residence. It said that violators will be prosecuted.

Assistant Undersecretary for Cooperative Sector Affairs in the Ministry of Social Affairs Abdul- Aziz Shueib said he is intrigued by the information spread on some social network platforms about prohibiting cooperative societies in residential areas from providing assistance to schools for the maintenance of air conditioning units, water dispensers and other services, reports Al-Jaridah daily.

In a press statement, Shueib affirmed the ministry did not issue such a directive. “The ministry continues to assist and organize the cooperative sector, as well as encourage cooperative societies to provide the best services for their stockholders,” he added. Shueib praised the cooperative societies for abiding by laws and regulations which organize cooperative work, citing as an example resolution number 42/2016 which prohibits the cooperative sector from engaging in activities related to social services. Helping schools is not one of these activities, he clarified.

Meanwhile, Shueib denounced the assault on an employee during the election in a cooperative society, affirming that “the ministry has taken legal measures which protect the dignity and rights of its employees. A lawsuit has been filed for assaulting and humiliating a government employee while on duty.” Head of Private Sector Employees Association Mansour Al-Mutairi has stressed the importance of merging the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) and Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) as the workes are in need of one institution that will handle their rights and duties, reports Al-Shahed daily.

In an interview with Al-Shahed TV, Al-Mutairi said they hear a lot about the electronic government and electronic linking of various public institutions only on television and newspapers but they do not see it in reality. On the other hand, Secretary General of the association Jamal Al-Fadly has unveiled his plan to put all laws related to national manpower into one integrated law.

He prefers having one institution in charge of the affairs of private sector employees and to protect them from all forms of abuse.
