Moi Team Tours Fish Market To Ensure The Auction Was Well-organized Without Any Problems
The Director-General of the Capital Security Directorate Brigadier Abdullah Al-Rujaib accompanied by a police force went on an inspection tour in the fish market to ensure the auction was well-organized without any problems, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily added, the price of mullet for one basket was 27 dinars at the Kuwaiti auction and 45 dinars at the expatriates’ auction. Present during the auction was the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce Abdullah Al-Afasi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Eid Al-Rashidi and Deputy Director General of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR).
Kuwait Competition Protection Agency said Thursday it was investigating alleged practices harmful to competition in the fish market, which were reported by newspapers and social media.
The agency sent a team to monitor alleged illegal practices and to take action accordingly, the agency’s Executive Director Dr Abdullah Al-Uwaisi said in a statement. He asserted the agency was pursuing all measures to address monopoly in order to guarantee fair prices for all consumers.
Al-Uwaisi officially asked the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for documents related to the alleged violations monitored by the Ministry’s inspectors at the fish market. The agency is a government department tasked with monitoring competition in markets in Kuwait.
