Non-muslims Cannot Obtain Kuwaiti Citizenship

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt-Gen Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah said that “those who want to obtain Kuwaiti citizenship must be a Muslim”, reports Al-Rai daily.

“The government confirms that the religion of the state is Islam, and that those who want to acquire the nationality of the State of Kuwait must be a Muslim, and therefore the Ministry of Interior believes that the current text of the Amiri Decree 1959/15 of the Nationality Law of Kuwait should remain,” Khaled Al-Jarrah said in a memo to the National Assembly on the non-Muslim naturalization proposal
