Number Of Marriages Abroad In First 4 Months Of Year Reached 73

The latest statistics released by the Ministry of Justice revealed that the number of marriages abroad in the first four months of the year reached 73, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Meanwhile, the number of conditioned divorce cases (Khul’s divorce) during the same period reached 308; indicating the number of marriages totaled 4,807 compared to 2,695 divorce cases or 29 divorce cases daily.

Reliable sources from the ministry disclosed that the highest number of those demanding for divorce fall under the category of university graduates while the lowest are those with intermediate certificates.

Sources warned about the rising divorce rate in the country, announcing that a governmental step will be taken to address the issue. Sources said a joint governmental committee will be formed soon including representatives from the ministries of Justice, Education, Awqaf and Information; in addition to local universities and non-government organizations (NGOs) to look for solutions to the problem.
