15 October 2019 Expats

Proceeds generated by fees levied on expatriates who get treatment in public hospitals and health centres have dropped by KD9 milion to KD20 million only last year.

In 2017-2018, health fees levied on expatriate exceeded KD29 million (KD29.1 million), according to the ministry’s statistics.

Categories of expatriate patients are seeking treatment at privately-owned hospitals and due to the increasing fees at public health facilities.

The ministry increased fees on expatriates at health centres to KD2 and imposed kD5 on those who get treatment at the emergency and accident wards at hospitals.

The health authorities have also doubled fees on pregnant non-Kuwaiti wives who give birth at public maternity hospitals to KD100, up from KD50.
