Syrian Gang Arrested For Sells Stolen Cars Abroad
Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested a three-man gang of Syrians for stealing cars parked in open areas, moving them to the Jahra Industrial Area, dismantling them and selling parts in Kuwait and in neighboring states, reports Al-Rai daily.
The daily quoting security sources said some of these cars were used for committing thefts. The arrest came after several people complained of thefts of their cars following which police noted the time and place where the thefts occurred and put the areas under surveillance for a week until they saw a tow truck making its way to an open area where many cars had been parked.
As the two men worked on a car to lift the car, the securitymen allowed them to complete the process and then walked to the man behind the wheel and asked him where and why the car was being taken.
The man pointed to the man in the passenger seat, who was a Syrian, and the latter said the owner of the car had requested the car to be taken to a garage. When he was asked for the telephone number of the owner of the car, he gave the number of the third accomplice who said the car needs repairs.
Police then called the real owner of the car and called him to the spot and the latter denied any malfunction in the car and said he did not hire any tow truck to take the car to the garage. The men were arrested and during interrogation they admitted to the charges filed against them.
